Comparison

GymOS vs Akton

Both India-native. Both aimed at gyms that want billing and attendance sorted. We're answering a different question from theirs, and it's worth knowing which question is yours.

The short version

Akton is one of the most visible India-native options, competing hard on price — its own site has advertised a starting price around ₹89/month — and on India-localised features like WhatsApp messaging and biometric or facial attendance. If your question is "what's the cheapest way to digitise attendance and billing", tools like Akton answer it directly.

GymOS answers a different question: "how do I run this like a real business I could hand to an accountant, an auditor, or a data-protection review without flinching?"

  GymOS Akton

Akton details are drawn from its public marketing and third-party listings during 2026, and are indicative rather than quotes. Several claims in this market — customer counts, retention percentages, UPI auto-debit — are self-reported and we have not independently verified them, for Akton or anyone else. Where Akton wins

Genuinely better fits for some gyms:

  • A lower entry price if budget is the single deciding factor
  • Biometric and facial attendance, if you specifically want turnstile hardware
  • Richer WhatsApp messaging, including two-way conversations
  • A native custom-branded gym app
  • Longer track record and a larger stated customer base

Where GymOS wins

If these matter, we're the stronger choice:

  • Consent, audit and erasure aligned to DPDP Act principles
  • Invoice numbers that cannot skip or duplicate, enforced in the database
  • Payments that cannot be silently edited
  • Cross-gym data isolation enforced structurally and tested per resource
  • 57 granular permissions with anti-privilege-escalation guardrails
  • One flat price with nothing behind a paywall
  • A published list of our own gaps

Same category, different priorities

This is convenience-and-price versus trust-and-integrity. Neither is wrong. A 90-member single-branch gym that wants attendance digitised this week and nothing more will be perfectly served by a cheap tool, and we'd rather say that than pretend otherwise.

The calculation changes once you're handling a few hundred members' medical notes and photographs, once two people are recording payments, and once there's a real chance someone asks you to produce a consent record or explain a missing invoice number. That's the point where "cheapest" stops being the whole answer.

We also don't market a biometric hardware dependency — QR check-in means there's nothing to install or maintain on-site. If you want a turnstile, that's a genuine reason to choose someone else, and it's the most common one we hear.

Two questions worth asking any India-native vendor Ask where their consent records live and whether they can be edited after the fact. Then ask what happens if an invoice number goes missing. The answers tell you a lot about how the product was built, whichever vendor you end up choosing.
